Kenya Uganda Safari - a three weeks adventures safari

This is real adventures safari, it will take you across the mountains and hills, across the valleys and rivers, and more important across human being and wildlife. The Masai Mara it is famous for its exceptional population of lions, leopards, and cheetahs and the annual migration of zebras, Thomson gazelle and wildebeest to and from Serengeti every year, known as great migration. Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable National Park provides habitat for some 120 species of mammals, 348 species of birds, 220 species of butterflies, 27 species of frog, chameleons, geckos and many endangered species, Gorilla being one of them.

THE SAFARI DAY BY DAY


Day 1 - Arrival Nairobi

On arrival you will be met by your safari driver Daniel, who will take you to your hotel. From the airport to the hotel it´s about 45 minutes drive. Here you can rest for some hours and have your breakfast before we do Nairobi excursion.


Maybe you will visit famous places like Karen Blixen and visit one of the slums. I recommend that you have lunch in Karen Coffee Garden and dinner at "Four You" entertained by 5 young talented boys called ”THE CONQUERORS”.

Day 2 - Kitui

Breakfast in your guesthouse before your journey starts by driving southern wards through Nairobi Mombasa road. On the way to Kitui you will be passing small-scale farmers, although this part of the country receives minimal rain, the climate is very favorites to Sorghum, Millet, Cassava, Sweet potatoes, Oranges, Tomatoes, Onions, Papaya, Mangoes, Water melon, Pumpkins, Green grams.


The drive from Nairobi to Kitui town, takes about three and a half hours via Machakos town. From Machakos you proceed to Wamunyu town, which is famous from its carving historic background. The carving industry in Kenya started in this small town of Wamunyu back in 1910, at the time when hunting activities were booming business and tourism started eventually the carving business grew.


In Kitui town we will have lunch at Bavaria restaurant before you will be taken on Sightseeing by foot by a local guide. In the evening dinner at Flamingo Lodge. Together with Daniel and his family you will learn and see the traditional life for the Kamba tribe. This is real Africa! In the evening we will sit around the bonfire and enjoy the African stars.

Day 3 - 5 - Mt. Kenya

Today we say bye to our friends in Flamingo Lodge and start our drive up to Mt Kenya, is the highest mountain in Kenya and the second highest in Africa. The roads are good and the scenery beautiful. In this area we have big pineapple plantations and also coffee plantations On the way we pass one of Kenyas´waterfalls called The 14th falls.  At Mt Kenya we will stay for three nights. The drive from Kitui to Mt. Kenya will take between 5 to 6 hours. Before dinner at the hotel we will have a meeting with Mr John and he will give us a briefing of the program for the next two days.


First day in Mt Kenya we go for a 4 hours walk to Maumau caves accompanied with a professional guide and after lunch boat riding and horse riding. Dinner in Bantu lodge. Day 2 – day trip to Mt Kenya. We will have picnic lunch in the park. In the evening we drive to Bantu lodge Forest for canopy walk and bush dinner. This will give you a “taste” of the mountain and the nature around this beautiful.

Day 6 - 7 - Nakuru

From Mt Kenya we are ready to continue our roundtrip in Kenya and today we will drive to Lake Nakuru via Thomson falls. Nakuru is Kenya’s 4th biggest town. At one time it was rated the cleanest town in Kenya, and it is the entry to Lake Nakuru National Park. Depending on the arrival time we may have lunch in the Hotel or take picnic lunch with us into the park.

Day 8 -11 - Masai Mara

We drive along Great Rift Valley down to Mai Mahiu town where we will turn and drive across the valley up to Narok town. From Narok we drive into Masai Mara and to Enkolong Camp where we are going to stay for four nights. The activities will be Game drive, Walking Safari and visit to a Masai village.


The camp has permanent tents with normal beds, water toilets and outside shower. Through the night you may hear the sounds of the wild animals, which are close to the camp. They never become uninvited guests. Anna is the manager and take good care of you together with her staff – most of them Masai people.

Day 12 - 14 - Kisumu and Lake Victoria

Today the drive is long, and we leave the camp at 7am with packed lunch boxes and drive back to Narok town. After stopping for fuel we proceed on and drive through small and large tea plantations in Kericho area. We will have our picnic lunch along the way, and then proceed on arriving Nyanza Club early in the afternoon. This is the place we are going to stay for 3 Nights.  We will have a meeting with Daniel and Tom to plan for the activities in Kisumu.


In Kisumu you will go on Lake Excursion to see wonderful sunrise, hippos and bird life. You can also visit Kakamega rain forest, the biggest rain forest in Africa, and the Kitmikay - the shrine rock. Accompanied with Daniel and Tom from Palicon – you have the best guides and they will guide you into learning Luo culture and tradition.

Day 15 - Heading for Kampala, Uganda

After 2 weeks adventure in Kenya we are ready to start our journey up to Uganda for Gorilla trip. Mt Gorilla lives in Bwindi Forests near border to Rwanda and we need a stopover in Kampala. From Kisumu to Kampala it is 350 km.

Day 16 - 18 - Bwindi Forests

After breakfast we start from Kampala and drive southwest across the Equator. We drive through savannah grasslands seeing banana plantations and herds of Ankole cattle with their incredibly long curving horns. We then ascend into the Kigezi highlands, known as the "Switzerland of Africa", with terraced farming and mountain scenery. Drive through to Bwindi. (about 10 hr drive).


The next morning, after an early breakfast and a briefing by a ranger guide, enter the gorilla sanctuary for your adventure. The beauty of this rain forest is spectacular. The area offers dramatic steeply forested landscape and is incredibly dense, but criss-crossed by numerous animal trails allowing access to tourists. The time taken and the terrain vary with the movements of these great primates. The thrill of spending time observing these gentle and endangered giants is an awesome, exciting experience to be long savored. Many find it to be a rare and moving opportunity.

Day 19 - Kampala stop over

Transfer back to Kampala.

Day 20 - 21 - Naivasha

From Kampala we drive all the way back to Kenya and down to Naivasha. This will be the last place to visit in this Adventure Safari. You have full day on 15th to spend in this park so we can leave Naivasha around 5 or 6 in the afternoon. In Naivasha you can go on boat rides in the Lake and go to Crescent Island, bird watching tour and also visit Hell´s Gate National Park.

Day 22 - Nairobi

Today we will go to Nairobi and to the airport for your flight.
