Day hiking to Hells Gate
Mt Longonot is a stratovolcano located in the Great Rift Valley of Kenya. It is thought to have last erupted in 1860. The name is a Maasai word meaning “Mountains of many steep ridges”. A climb up Mt Longonot is an ideal day trip from Nairobi.
Hell’s Gate is one of Kenya's smaller national parks. Can be explored best on foot or by bicycle. A narrow breaks in the cliff. At Hell’s Gate you can enjoy walking safaris in the wild. A peaceful atmosphere with zebra, eland, gazelle and giraffe wandering around.
PROGRAM
The day starts with an early pick up (7am) at your central Nairobi Hotel. We drive to Naivasha and have a stop to admire the view over rift valley.
This is a private tour so the day will be tailor made after your wishes. There is possible to hike from the gate to the gorges, its a beautiful walk for ca 8 km in lovely nature. You can also rent a bike (own cost) or we can drive to the caves.
The hike in the gorge is most of the time easy, but there are some few parts where some scrambling through the rocks is required but very easy in general.
We are back to your hotel around 6pm.
Bring good tracking schoos, sun protection and extra water.
